You guys, like me, are probably pretty hard to shock at this point. If you spend your waking hours surfing the great counterjihad sites out there you can recount some horrible act of dhimmitude just about once every two or three days. But from Ace of Spades, comes a good entry for Dhimmi of the Month:
HRES 635 IH
110th CONGRESS
1st Session
H. RES. 635
Recognizing the commencement of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting and spiritual renewal, and commending Muslims in the United States and throughout the world for their faith.
IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
September 5, 2007
Ms. EDDIE BERNICE JOHNSON of Texas (for herself, Mr. MEEKS of New York, and Mr. ELLISON) submitted the following resolution; which was referred to the Committee on Foreign Affairs
——————————————————————————–
RESOLUTION
Recognizing the commencement of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting and spiritual renewal, and commending Muslims in the United States and throughout the world for their faith.
Whereas since the terrorist attacks on the United States on September 11, 2001, threats and incidents of violence have been directed at law-abiding, patriotic Americans of African, Arab, and South Asian descent, particularly members of the Islamic faith;
Whereas, on September 14, 2001, the House of Representatives passed a concurrent resolution condemning bigotry and violence against Arab-Americans, American Muslims, and Americans from South Asia in the wake of the terrorist attacks;
Whereas it is estimated that there are approximately 1,500,000,000 Muslims worldwide;
Whereas Ramadan is the holy month of fasting and spiritual renewal for Muslims worldwide, and is the 9th month of the Muslim calendar year; and
Whereas the observance of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan commences at dusk on September 13, 2007, and continues for one lunar month: Now, therefore, be it
Resolved, That–
(1) during this time of conflict, in order to demonstrate solidarity with and support for members of the community of Islam in the United States and throughout the world, the House of Representatives recognizes the Islamic faith as one of the great religions of the world; and
(2) in observance of and out of respect for the commencement of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting and spiritual renewal, the House of Representatives acknowledges the onset of Ramadan and expresses its deepest respect to Muslims in the United States and throughout the world on this significant occasion.
Given the wording, I can’t imagine it won’t pass. But at least we’ll know who in congress we can work with, from this list of those brave enough to vote no. LauraW. at Ace says the bill is coming up for a vote today. Nifty.
As stupid as the last one is, the British of course, are way out in front in the race to enter Dar-us-salam. Check out this BBC video from LGF on the importance of… installing Shariah.

how long shall the “wake of the terrorist attacks” affect us? how collective shall our outraged conscience be?
is there not a need to be official and cut off the wake keeping in order that we deal TODAY with the “new” assaults on our nation? we must go on like normal folk, who put up with foreign excesses assaulting their patience, everyday, burying the past and looking forward to the future joys that free peoples may endeavor to find without the mindset created by the servitude to shaming.
That is why we need to get rid of Ellison when his term is up. Muslims are working 724 to keep our politicians intimidated to even think that Islam is the cause of thw world’s misery. I bet Tom Tancredo doesn’t sign it because he is not a whore to Islam as the rest of them so eagerly are.
The day is coming when any criticism of Islam is going to be against the law.
A few years ago, if someone had told me such a thing, I’d have thought him out of his mind. But just look at the direction in which our polity and culture are headed!
My jaw just hit the floor.
John S.
Tancredo voted “Not present” as did Duncan Hunter. This is quite different than a “Nay” vote.
Voting “yeah” were many republicans, 2 I know are on the anti-jihad caucus (Myrick + King) What a disappointment.
This looks like it will be an annual thing- it started in 2005. I am going to calender next mid-September to make some noise before another resolution is proposed.
What happened to separation of state and religion?
What are these clowns thinking? That taxpayers pay them for these nonsense? If they were doing their job properly they wouldn’t have time for these stupid and dangerous hobbies.
Islam is killing US (and allied) soldiers and citizens all over the world. And they have a resolution to commend this ‘great religion’? To me this is treason. They should be indicted and thrown in jail.
If only paying taxes was voluntary, then these looters would quickly be out of a job.
There’s no link to the results. Anybody know what Ron Paul voted (was he there?)?
UNBELIEVABLE. I remember CAIR tried to pull the same thing a year or two ago, but back then it didn’t even get to being considered.
And what kind of a BS is that? Are there any other House resolutions commencing any other religious holidays?
Congress Crosses the Line. Where is the Outrage?
Muslims Against Sharia condemn politically correct cowardice of the United States Congress. We call on every American Muslims to contact their congressmen, and voice their disgust with Congress’ blatant disregard for the United States Constitution.
